I’m Malika Ali, the creator of The Bake Journey. I’m a passionate 28-year-old home baker living in Los Angeles, but my roots trace back to Pakistan. Food has always been my love language—especially if it’s sweet! I adore creating new recipes and sharing the magic of baking with people from all over the world.
My Love for Baking
My baking journey began as a child when I was introduced to the joys of the kitchen. I’ve always had a sweet tooth and loved experimenting with cakes, cookies, and everything in between. Growing up, my family affectionately called me “The Egg Waster” because of how many recipes I tried (and failed!)—but those early experiments sparked a lifelong passion for baking.
In 2022, life threw me a curveball, and I rediscovered my love for baking during some much-needed downtime. This time, it wasn’t just about following recipes—I started creating my own! That’s when I launched The Bake Journey on Instagram and Pinterest to share my recipes and connect with fellow baking enthusiasts.
What started as a hobby has now grown into something so much more. I’ve found my creative outlet, built connections with incredible people around the world, and discovered my true calling in life, Alhamdulillah.

A Little More About Me
While baking is my greatest passion, there’s more to my story!
I was born and raised in Pakistan in a small city called Wah Cantt, where I grew up as the studious middle child. Thanks to my amazing parents, I’ve always had big dreams and the freedom to chase them. For college, I moved to the U.S. and graduated from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2017 (yes, nerd alert!).
Since then, I’ve worked as a management consultant and traveled extensively, exploring 20+ cities across Europe with my husband in 2022. My husband, Ali, and I met in high school and got married in 2019. Together, we’ve built a cozy life in Los Angeles with our adorable Maine Coon cat, Oreo, who loves to lounge around while I bake.

- I received a world distinction in O’Levels Biology and graduated summa cum laude from college.
- I’m a die-hard Potterhead and love re-reading the Harry Potter series whenever I can.
- I have the worst hand-eye coordination—catching anything is a miracle!
- While I’m a dessert enthusiast, I don’t crave ice cream (shocking, I know).
- I thrive under pressure and am a massive procrastinator—I always seem to do my best work at the last minute.
I’m hopelessly tone-deaf, much to my husband’s amusement (or despair).
